Design Concept -
Tom Stoppard’s “Arcadia” is an interesting work which not only switches locations but switches time periods as well.  These design challenges were met through much research into period architecture of 19th century England.  It was decided to go with only “hints” of architectural scenery to suggest a country manner house yet allow the view of action happening upstage.  Shifts in time were accomplished through the careful research and consideration of props in the production.  Laptops and sextants were on the same table, yet only “seen” by their appropriate users.
